Represents the Russian Federation’s President in North-Western Federal region and ensures the constitutional authority’s realization of the head of the State on this region’s territory.
Biography
- Born on May 7, 1951 in Leningrad.
- In 1974 he graduated from the Leningrad polytechnic institute named after M.I. Kalinin.
- 1974-1977 – engineer at “Electron” factory.
- From 1977 till 1997 he worked at the Leningrad optical-mechanical plant (LOMO), he began his career there as engineer-constructor and finished it as director general.
- In December of 1997 he was appointed first vice-governor of Saint Petersburg – and the chairman of Economy’s and Industrial policy’s Committee.
- From May 30, 1998 – deputy of the Russian Federation Government’s Chairman.
- From October 17, 2001 – deputy of the Russian Federation Government’s Chairman and Minister of industry, science and technologies of Russian Federation.
- From October 18, 2002 – Minister of industry, science and technologies of Russian Federation.
- From November 1, 2003 – plenipotentiary representative of the Russian Federation’s President in North-West Federal region.
